Core Values

Our goal is to promote the moral and spiritual values of Torah and avodah she-ba-lev. Our warm and friendly atmosphere will be established upon the following principles:

•Limud haTorah will be the backbone of our spiritual growth. We aim to provide a positive and stimulating learning environment that will enrich our members and our children intellectually and spiritually. As part our Torah study, we will explore, through various programs, how Halakhah and hashkafah address the manifold challenges of modern life. Guest speakers will share a rich and stimulating range of Orthodox opinions about meeting these challenges.

•Tefilla will be a spiritual, uplifting and meaningful experience, conducted in a conducive atmosphere devoid of personal conversation. We will be brought together as a true tzibbur through singing and divrei Torah. Children and teens will participate in tefilla at age-appropriate levels.

•Bein adam l'chaveiro is a prerequisite for service of Hashem. How we treat our fellow human being is of utmost importance in cultivating a religious personality. Our minyan will provide a context and setting for inspiring exemplary interpersonal relationships that will serve as a model for our children.

•Service to our community is a core value that will drive us to be active participants in all aspects of Houston Jewish life. We will energize members of all ages to cultivate chesed and engage in a variety of meaningful communal activities.

•Commitment to Medinat Yisrael is central to our religious identity. Accordingly, it will occupy a significant place in our tefillot, including celebrating and reciting Hallel on Yom Ha’atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim.

•Development of our children is a top priority. Innovative and creative programming will provide children of all ages with a meaningful, positive and inspiring shul experience.
